FirstGov.gov Business Gateway - Whatever you want or need from the U.S. government, it's here. You'll find a rich treasure of online information, services and resources. FirstGov.gov is the official gateway to all U.S. government information.
State and Local Government on the Net is a pointer source to the individual states. Each state listing has links to the state home page, statewide offices, legislative branch, judicial branch, executive branch, boards and commissions, and counties, and cities. The site also includes links to multi-state sites, federal resources, national organizations, and other links.
Yahoo! Government: U.S. States is a helpful directory of links to government sites in all 50 states.
US House of Representatives has made available web access to the legislative process and legislative information. Information is provided on members, committees, and organizations of the House of Representatives. The site includes information on the legislative process, annual schedule, how to write to your representative, Internet law library, visitor information, and educational links. The full text of bills and some committee reports are also available online. This is a well-organized site containing a great deal of information about work being done by the House.
US Senate includes information on how to contact senators, provides access to press releases, senate reports, and testimony by senator or committee.
Federal Courts Finder includes links to the Supreme Court, Federal Circuit Courts, D.C. Circuit, and the eleven Circuit Courts.
The Federal Court Locator provides links to Federal Court Opinions and Rules. Links to the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeals, District Courts, and Related Federal Agencies are provided for an easy one-stop shopping for court information.
Federal Judiciary Homepage: Federal Courts provides a helpful overview to the US Federal Court System and includes press releases, articles, and directory services.
The Federal Web Locator is provided by the Villanova Center for Information Law and Policy and it is designed to be a one-stop place for federal government information on the Internet. The site is arranged by agency hierarchy. The categories tend to be arranged like the US Government Manual and include Federal Legislative Branch, Federal Judicial Branch, Federal Executive Branch, Federal Executive Agencies, Department, Federal Independent Establishments and Government Corporations; Federal Government Consortium and Quasi-Official Agencies; Federal Boards, Commissions, and Committees; and non-government Federally Related Sites. Keyword searching is available. The site is useful if you know which agency you need, but no subject index is available.
Fedworld is a large collection of government resources compiled from many different agencies. The site supports both keyword searching or browsing of other linked websites. Fedworld provides access to the past 30 daysÌ of the technical reports from the NTIS bibliographic database. You can also order technical reports on the Fedworld Website. This is a useful finding aid for government resources and documents.
FindLaw is a comprehensive resource for legal information. This site includes information on laws (cases and codes), links to US Federal, US State, and International legal information. You can search and review US Codes, Federal Rules, State Court Rulings/Opinions and much more.
FirstGov is a "one-stop" resource for users to locate U.S. government information, comparable to the Federal Web Locator site listed above, but easier to use. The site is searchable and browsable by topic. Additionally, the site provides links to general information on the government, state and local government, and doing business with the government.
GovBot Database of Government Websites is a search engine that searches more than 300,000 websites that end in either .gov or .mil. Boolean searching is not available yet but multiple terms are combined with the an OR operator. This search engine does not allow for browsing or subject searching; it is a keyword search engine.
The Government Printing Office (GPO) makes available to the public access to government legislation, reports, and regulations via GPO Access. It is not an easy site to use but is one of the places to find out about government reports, regulations, and legislative oversight of federal executive agencies.
Library of Congress provides information on the Library of Congress collections, how to obtain access to the collections, the American Memories digital collection, an online gallery, and more.
National Technical Information Service (NTIS) is the Federal Government's central source for the sale of scientific, technical, engineering, and related business information produced by or for the U.S. Government and complementary material from international sources. NTIS aquires information for all types of government agencies and provides access to technical reports, marketing reports, training tools, and more.
U.S. Department of State Passport Services provides information on passport services for American citizens. The site includes downloadable passport applications, information on lost or stolen passports, where to write for vital records (birth, marriage and divorce, and death certificates), and a nationwide list of passport agencies including hours of operation. Also available from this page are links to travel tips and advisories.
Congress (via GPO) - Congressional information is available through GPO Access. The site includes links to congressional publications, US House publications, Senate publications, House and Senate Committees, and a search engine.
Federal Budget: Each budget can be searched individually and useful tips are available.
Federal Register Online via GPO Access is a free site that allows users to search the Federal Register. The Federal Register is the official daily publication for Rules, Proposed Rules, and Notices of Federal agencies and organizations, as well as Executive Orders and other Presidential documents. In addition to the Federal Register, links to the Code of Federal Regulations, Public Laws, United States Government Manual, the Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents, and Information on the US Congress are provided.
Thomas: Legislative Information on the Internet is the site where federal legislative information is available free to the public. The information includes bill text, congressional record text, bill summary and status, hot bills, the Congressional Record Index, and the Constitution. In addition, committee reports for the 104th Congress have been included and House and Senate committees have established their own homepages. The legislative databases can be searched or browsed and Boolean searching is supported.
The Whitehouse website is a useful place to look for information about the president and vice president, their activities, and programs. The virtual library provides access to press releases, speeches, and other helpful government documents. It is a good finding aid for frequently requested federal documents and questions.
The Census Bureau's website is a large site that contains many Census Bureau publications and statistics. Many but not all of the Census reports are available as well as statistical press releases. Searching the Census Bureau's site can be done through keyword searching, place name, map point, and census staff look-up. If you are looking for statistical, demographic, or current economic data, the Census is one of the first places to look.
Fedstats provides access to a broad range of statistical information from more than 70 federal agencies. Access to statistics is through links to agency pages, programs, regional statistics, and press releases. Fedstats also provides an a-z subject index and keyword searching. Commonly requested statistics is available through The Statistical Abstract of the United States.
FedStats listing of Statistical Agencies is a comprehensive list of all statistical agencies in the U.S. Link directly to these agenies for specific statistical data.
Statistical Abstract of the U.S. is a collection of statistics on social and economic conditions in the United States. Selected international data are also included. There are 93 new tables covering topics such as women's health, school violence, home-based businesses, and bank fees and services. You will find state rankings and state profiles as well.
The Economic Research Service (ERS) is the main source of economic information and research from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. ERS's timely research and analysis provide public and private decisionmakers the information they need to conduct business.
AcqNet - Federal Acquistion Regulation information, useful links to other government sites.
The Chief Financial Officers Council - the CFOs of the largest Federal agencies and senior officials of the Office of Management and Budget and the Department of the Treasury, working collaboratively to improve financial management in the US.
STAT-USA/Internet, a service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is the site for the U.S. business, economic and trade community, providing authoritative information from the Federal government. Access to Globus and NTDB.GLOBUS (Global Business Opportunities).

World Bank keeps track of economic indicators and economic outlooks worldwide. Many of their reports and a lot of data are available online, including World Development Indicators and Global Economic Prospects. GKSoft is a database of government institutions on the web. CorporateInformation.com is a huge pointer source for corporate information on public, private, foreign and domestic companies. The site is organized by country and most of the information is free of charge. The site also provides links to market research reports, accounting policies, laws, and court decisions.
Japan Company provides information on Japan's public companies. Financial information is available and can be downloaded from the site for free.
